In this day and age, we enjoy a climate of relative sexual liberation and gender equality. Sociological studies which were conducted at the University of Iowa by Anthony Paik, however, gives evidence that those conservative assumptions are wrong. The unexpected result after interviewing more than 642 adults in the Chicago area was that the quality and longevity of a good relationship is independent of whether it started with casual sex or not. What, by contrast, actually determined whether the relationship would work or not, was the willingness of the individuals within a relationship to continue in one. It didn’t matter how much time passed between meeting and engaging in sexual contact, just that they wanted to be together.
And is that for many, sex, whether casual or not, means, often springs out of an emotional involvement between to people. Whether they hook up on the first night or not is irrelevant, what matters is if they feel something deeper for the other person other, and want to stick together. Now, this does not mean that for many people, sex is just sex, a night of passion and pleasure, which need not go beyond that. Whatever your attitude toward casual sex is, if you really want is to find a partner, feel free to enjoy whoever you want, as even a night of debauchery can turn into a nice, long relationship.
