Fujiyama Tea Room in Venice

November 26, 2012 By: veniceblogger Category: Venice

Since there isn´t any traffic in Venice, one could think that stress doesn´t even exist. However, Venice is still a city, a beautiful but busy island, so sometimes you might need to escape and find a corner of peace and quiet.

This corner you can find it at Fujiyama Tea Room. Hidden in the right place to keep its own identity but not hidden enough to escape our attention, this tea room is located on Calle Lunga de San Barnaba, a long and quiet street close to Campo San Barnaba. The flux of tourists that come from the Accademia usually goes through the Campo Santa Margherita, completely avoiding this street.

Fujiyama tea room Venice

Fujiyama Tea Room is decorated in a sober and authentic Oriental style but not like typical Chinese and Japanese restaurants. It has two rooms and a charming patio, with jasmine and glycine plants and with a nice crowd during the busy seasons. The owners lived in Japan and China for a long time and wanted to show the healthiest characteristics of tea and its philosophy to their guests.

There´s a wide range of hot teas to choose from in this shop, such as green tea, oolong, white tea, black tea… However, how to choose between ´spring light´ (white tea, pieces of aloe vera, flower blossoms and yellow grapefruit) and ´kiss of rose´ (green tea, pear, red rose, lychee and gingko)? Once you´ve overcome these dilemmas, the staff, who by the way are very polite and discreet, will serve them to you in a steaming and perfumed teapot that can fill various cups. Also, you could accompany all of this with a delicious chocolate and pear cake, all for a measly 5.50€.

In this level of relaxation of the highest level, with a steaming cup of tea and surrounded with Oriental music that soothes and relaxes us, the hours of the day slip by without us noticing. The teapot full of steaming water takes us to trascendental meditation, allowing us to read books about Asia and other continents and countries, look at photography or enjoy the silence, like in China or Japan.

Also, if you would like to carry on with your reflections about the meaning of life, the tea room is open until 8pm. When you go out, you´ll feel that your mood is a very positive one and that Venice will look even more beautiful than it did when you went in.

Don´t miss out this chance for internal joy in the heart of Venice, on Calle Lunga de San Barnaba 2727A, Dorsoduro. Opening times are from 3pm until 8pm, closed on Saturdays. To get here, you have to get off at the Zattere vaporetto stop. If you want to book a table, call +39.041.7241042 and enjoy a splendid afternoon in an atmosphere filled with Oriental harmony.
